Iberiatel Canarias was founded in the year 2000 with the opening of the European Telecommunication Market.The founders of the company had previously worked for 25 years long in the management of a German telecommunication company.

At the beginning of 2002 Iberiatel Canarias applied for a ZEC- status at the EU in Brussels and also for the Spanish Ministry of Economy in Madrid.
 Iberiatel Canarias could fulfil the high demands of the authorities e.g. the required investments, the financial and the professional background. Iberiatel Canarias was then able to qualify as a ZEC-status company in 2002.
